anyone know if there have been any remakes on DW7 or if any are planned?
Would be sweet to see ArtePiazza re-make DW7 like they did with DQ4-6.
Also would be nice to see ArtePiazza remakes of DW1-3

There is/was a 3DS remake of 7 in the works; I don't know if it's been released in Japan or if there's a planned release in the US.
There was just an Android/iOS port of the original Dragon Warrior released last week. So new I haven't gotten to post about it yet!

As to the port of the original DW to Android/iOS...call me stupid, but what is iOS...is that the stuff for like, iPhones? I dunno, I avoid Apple like the plague. I much prefer Android. I do have an Android phone so I will need to see if that is available on Google Play.

I doubt 3DS games will work on the DS. They're more technologically advanced, and would almost certainly prove too much for the DS' hardware. (Fairly sure DS games will run on the 3DS, though, albeit without the 3D effect. There is also the 2DS, which is a less expensive alternative to the 3DS that doesn't have the 3D effect.)
iOS is the operating system (OS) for Apple's "iDevices" -- iPhone, iPad, and iPod Touch. Many of Square Enix's iOS games are later ported to Android, sometimes with extra features or lower prices.
Nice new Barbara/Ashlynn avatar, by the way!

The 3DS isn't a minor update like the DS Lite or the DSi; it's got all-new guts inside. I have no idea about Acekard specifically, but I'm sure there's some way to pirate 3DS games. Google Play link is here: play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.square_enix.android_googleplay.dq1_gp(They also did DQ4 a while back, if you're interested in that. Pretty sure it's a port of the DS version with no new content.) - HC

That's right. the 3DS will play DS, but without 3D effect...but not the other way 'round. Dang it. So I'd have to get a 3DS or a 2DS even to play it....then there's a matter of making the Acekard work in the thing. Well, that will be some way off then. Like I said, I just do not like Apple. Part of it, I guess, is just a generational bias...in my formative years, Apple was garbage. a matter of what you get used to, I guess. But the thing I really don't like about Apple devices is the way they are SO locked down that it is next to impossible to do things you're not supposed to with them. It isn't even that I want to do many of those kinds of things that you aren't supposed to do...I just don't like the fact that you CAN'T. Thanks on the avatar. Lifted it from Woodus' site, actually.

Dunno if a DS Acekard will work with the 3DS- the carts seem to be the same size, but they may have different connectors on them.
I'm kind of a fan of Apple, but I must confess that part of the reason is that I'm already invested in the Apple ecosystem. As a sidenote, Jailbreaking an iDevice is easy enough, and that opens all sorts of doors. OS X is actually way more powerful in that regard than you'd expect, since it's based on BSD; all that cool linux stuff is there under the hood if you know where to look.
iOS lockdown is also a product, for better or worse, of worries about virii and malware- while I'm not disagreeing with the philosophical arguments against it, the upside of having a central Place all your software needs to go through is that there's some muster it has to pass to be available and there's a central Place it can get pulled from if it turns out to be doing something bad.

Still don't much care for that lockdown. There's malware programs to deal with that.

www.woodus.com/den/games/dq3andios/Looks like the Android/iOS version of DQ3 is a direct port of the Super Famicom version, but with a post-merger-style translation. Also, they seem to have eliminated the Treasures'n'Trapdoors minigame altogether, and updated the Mini Medal prize list slightly. The reward for collecting 100 medals is now the Gringham Whip.

Is the SNES version the most recent version of the game? Did it ever see a GBA port?
Will probably pick this one up at some point, but that may be after Christmas.
