A new virus has infected nearly half a million routers around the world in recent days according to the FBI . The North American police agency has requested that these routers be restarted to avoid the threat. Specifically, the FBI statement indicates the following: The FBI recommends that any owner who has a small router in their home or office turn off and restart their device. By restarting Cocos Islands Keeling Email List router, the virus stops acting and if it tries to reconnect again, it would be easier for the FBI to identify the attackers. This is malware, named “VPN Filter” , which allows you to remotely control affected devices . Additionally, it can be used to collect sensitive information from users of compromised devices. According to the FBI, the compromised devices were intended to be used to block communication systems during the Champions League final played last Saturday in Kiev (Ukraine). The most vulnerable routers , always according to information from the FBI, are those that have weak access passwords , that is, easy to break. Therefore, it is also recommended that they be changed to safer ones that meet certain length and complexity criteria (minimum 8 characters containing capital letters, numbers and some special characters). According to researchers, the origin of the virus could be in Russia and it would be a modification of the one that already caused a collapse a few months ago in Ukraine. Of course, Russia denies any connection with this malware. The security company Symantec has published a small list of computers that could be infected: TP-Link R600VPN
