Looks like it's set to be released for the Wii in Japan on August 2. The bad news: it's at least partially an MMO and has a monthly fee, which means I will probably never play it. - HC

Same here, even though I love the DQ series and DQ8 and DQ9 were two of my favorite games of all time.
What I don't get is why they made this DQ game part of the main series, instead of calling it DQ Online. They made the same exact mistake with FF11.
Let's hope that DQ11 is not only a return to form, but also a gameplay/story/presentation tour de force, much like FF12 was.

On the plus side, I guess the word is that you can get AI-controlled teammates of you want to solo, whIh turns the game into something more akin to DQ9.
On the minus side, monthly fee.

Monthly fee, MMO...huge turnoffs for me.
I have immensely enjoyed the DW/DQ series, but DQ X is not one I am ever likely to play, given that set-up.
Likewise, I never played DQ 8 because it came out only for a system I don't own, and have no intention of buying.
I did play and enjoy DQ7 - because I got a PS1 emulator on my computer...wish they'd convert that one to DS...I'd buy a copy!
Likewise, I played the translations by NoPrgress, for DQ6 and I forget who (Geechyguy??) for DQ5...and enjoyed them...I have SNES emulators on handhelds running those games.
The Arte Piazza remakes for the DS were pretty good work, I'd like to see them take on doing 7 and 8...and maybe also go back to do 1, 2, and 3.
I'll never play 10, given the format that it's currently in. Let us hope and pray that DQ11 will be, as you all say, a return to form, in the manner of FF12.
I fear that, in pursuit of the God-almighty dollar, DQ, and by extension, Enix (or SquareEnix, if you like) is abandoning their fan base.
