I am starting this to discuss emulation. Note that I do not advocate piracy, nor do I provide any links to ROMs.
This said, I thought I would share what I have emulated on my current consoles.
On my Dingoo, I have the following:
Atari Lynx: 14 games
Atari 7800: 13 games (these games duplicated on Dingux side)
Colecovision: 22 games (these games duplicated on Dingux side)
Dingoo Native: 10 games
Homebrew Games: 27 games
MVS (1st gen Neo-Geo): 4 games
GameBoy: 42 games
GameBoy Color: 36 games
GameBoy Advance: 61 games
NES: 72 games
SNES: 46 games
PCE (TurboGraphx 16): 18 games (these games duplicated on Dingux side)
Sega GameGear: 19 games
Sega Genesis: 61 games
Sega Master system: 19 games
MAME(Native): 157 games (these games duplicated on Dingux side)
Dingux Native: 12 games
PCE - Dingux side: 37 games
ColecoVision - Dingux side: 31 games
Atari 2600: 36 games
Atari 7800: 13 games
Final Burn Alpha: 53 games
MAME: 188 games
MSX Computer System: 20 games
Commodore 64: 63 games
NeoGeo Pocket: 16 games
Intellivision: 18 games
Amiga: 6 games
SO...not counting duplication between Native and Dingux sides on the Dingoo, I have a total of 904 games on my Dingoo. Obviously, some of them are the same title, different system, for example, I might have more than one Pac-Man...so, as a guess, I would say roughly 650 different titles on the Dingoo.
Now, on the DS, I have many things emulated as well...some of which are also emulated on the Dingoo.
On the DS, I have the following:
NDS: 53 games
Atari: 15 games
Coleco: 9 games
Genesis: 14 games
GameBoy & GBC: 26 games
NES: 51 games
Sega Master System/Game Gear: 15 games
SNES: 8 games
Homebrew (includes some MAME emulators): 22 games
So there are an additional 160 games emulated on my DS
(not counting NDS games)...of which I would say about 40% are NOT duplicated on the Dingoo, due to compatibility issues between the systems. so, roughly, another 64 games on the DS....plus the 53 NDS titles, for a total of 117 games.
So, I really have about 750 different game titles I can play at my fingertips, any time I want (more if you count duplicate titles on different consoles....and total dupes on the Dingoo, between Native and Dingux sides.)
At any rate, I can easily play one game a day, for over two years, without playing the same game twice!
I should note here that I do not advocate piracy, where possible I do own the titles I have emulated elsewhere (even if I do not own the consoles on which they play) Obviously MAME and FBA are noted exceptions to this. I do not sell or provide ROMs, I use them only for my own personal use...and in the case of MAME and FBA, this is a matter of preserving the classics that are no longer in most arcades...unless you are lucky enough to find a retro place!
In the case of Atari, I obviously no longer own the carts, as I no longer own an operating ATARI console...but at the time I owned the system, I did own and buy the titles now emulated, so, again, this is not, in my definition, piracy.
This is basically like having once bought a song on cassette tape...and now wanting it on a different medium, like CD...so, instead of buying a CD, you download the song. I see no reason why I should have to buy a song AGAIN...that I already bought once...just because I now want it on a different medium. However, in some cases, I HAVE re-bought songs where reliable clean free downloads of MP3's could not be obtained....in fact, I have bought so much music from Amazon that I have unlimited storage space on their Cloud Server.
At any rate....one might well see why I am not too eager to try out new games, when I already have so many that I already like...right at my fingertips!
I should also mention that I have a Supercard for my GBA, and it contains additional titles...I'll update this topic with that number shortly....but - not counting the GBA Supercard I have 750 titles!!
UPDATE:
The Supercard has an additional 51 Homebrew games, as well as emulated games from the following systems, all of which are also on the DS and/or Dingoo...so my total unique games is about 800.
GBA Supercard has emulated games for the following systems:
TurboGrafx 16
NES
GBA
SNES
GBC
GBA
Sega Master System
Sega Game Gear
(Note: the GBA is not sophisticated enough to be able to emulate Genesis, or Atari and others like Commodore and Coleco....to say nothing of MAME and FBA!!)
As a final note to this, I should mention my main reason for emulation of games is the convenience factor of having many games all on one cart, rather than constantly having to carry around/change...and risk losing...all those teeny carts.
Plus, you might decide you want to play a game, and not have that cart with you at the moment...when you get as extensive a games library as I have, it becomes impossible to carry them ALL with you - except through the use of flashcarts.
SO...with a total of three flashcarts (one for each system) I have easily 1,500 titles (counting all dupes) or, about 800 unique titles at my fingertips...just carrying around three portable game systems with the carts already installed.
Needless to say, when I used to work overnight shift at an answering service, this came in great handy keeping me awake for when the phones DID ring (they normally rang less than 10 times in an entire 8-hour shift overnight...but those calls were absolutely critical! My boss at the time was fully okay with my playing games on the clock in order to make sure I stayed awake to get those calls!) - and it was when I was with this answering service that portability of games, and not carrying a bunch of carts...became an issue!
