Let's start a conversation about Earthbound (Mother 2), because this is a great game. It's an awesome parody of RPGs in general. I guess it's kind of childish in it's humour, but it's still kind of funny and enjoyable to play.
And besides... the final boss is seriously messed up and it's horrifying to analyse. There's a reason that there was never any trophy articles on Gigyas in Super Smash Bros games.
I have actually played a bit of a translated version of Mother 3, and it's still pretty cool, but it's different. I mean, I kind of wonder why Lucas is in SSBB when most of the time, you played his family and family friends instead <_<;; I suppose it's not until late in the game that Lucas matters.

I never understood the attraction of this game.

I never actually even heard of it...to be brutally honest.

Kalisiin: It's got quirky humor, unique character/enemy/area designs, and a back-to-basics turn-based battle system. Worth a try if you like DQ.

To be honest, I had not heard of it before. I am, as those who really know me know...very reluctant to try new games, preferring to play all the old ones I already like. Part of this has to do with not ever having had any of the newer game consoles (my most current would be the Sega Genesis) and part of it has to do with two things: 1. A reluctance to part with a lot of money to try a new game on my DS (this is circumvented, of course, by downloading the ROM and trying the game out - if I like it, then I WILL buy it - I do not promote or advocate piracy!!) 2. I'm usually busy playing something else, lol As it is now, I have over 1,100 games emulated on my Dingoo, across all manner of consoles, from GBA, GBC, NES, SNES, Sega Genesis, GameGear, Atari, Commodore, as well as classic arcade games via MAME and FBA. Also a number of games on PCE - aka Turbo Graphx 16. also Neo-Geo Pocket...and a few other systems. So I really have all those games that I already like, so I find it somewhat un-necessary to try out newer games, as I have so many that I already like, that I could literally play a game each day for over three years and not play the same game twice! But I may give this Earthbound a look-see if I can find a DS ROM for it...or a ROM for the game on NES or SNES or the like, which can be emulated on my Dingoo.

It's attraction is the fact that it's a quirky well made game that is essentially a parody of a lot of RPGs. And it's fun look into the messed up symbolism in the final boss. Who wants to discuss that topic? ^_~

Kalisiin: I can hook you up with the ROMs for all three Earthbound/Mother games if you wish. You know my e-mail; just say the word. (The first one is for NES, the second and most famous one is for SNES, and the third one is for GBA. All are in English.)

(The first one is for NES, the second and most famous one is for SNES, and the third one is for GBA. All are in English.) Well, you can send the ROM's to me, you know my email. I'm still busy with DQ9 at the moment, but will eventually play them, at least give them a try, they sound interesting enough. I am just right now hellbent on getting my 100% Completion on all lists for DQ9. I just topped 1300 hours on it, and STILL do not have completion! I have all but one item of armor (the High-Class Heels) - I think those are a DQVC only item. Several Weapons yet need to be obtained...mostly the ones that require alchemy with agates. I am at 100 % Items 97% Wardrobe 95% Alchenomicon 11.5 million in bank 386 Accolades I need 400 Accolades minimum, and 100% on all lists, before I consider the game "complete." even then, I'll probably fool around with it to get even better Grotto Maps...but once I get that level of completion, I'll be able to turn my major attention to a different game - I STILL have not touched the remake of DQ6...even though I downloaded the ROM...AND BOUGHT THE LEGIT CART...at the same time...since I already knew I would like this game....having already played the NoPrgress translation of the original. But go ahead and send along the ROMs - and please DLO note I really don't advocate piracy...anyone who has ROMs should also have the legit carts - or be trying out a game, and, if liked, then the carts should be bought. And no one, ever, should be SELLING ROMs.

I don't think anyone sells ROMs... That would be stupid... I have seen it done! Look on ebay for Dragon Quest 5. You'll find some people selling SNES DQ5 game carts...and what they have done is managed to get the ROM onto the cart...and then they are selling the cart. So, they are basically selling a ROM. I have seen it done...and if they could do it with that game, they could do it with others. I really do not know the mechanics of how this is achieved...but I have seen it done. I'm smart enough to get them onto flashcarts for portable gaming systems...and flash portable gaming systems to accept them...but not smart enough to get a ROM onto an actual SNES cart.
