Okay, I am playing DQ6 on the DS at the moment...and something occured to me:
Is it just me, or is the way Monster Drops are handled really stupid??
Think about it....
"Wyvern A is defeated"
"Wyvern A drops a treasure chest"
"It contains a Chimera Wing"
"Hero obtains a Chimera Wing"
Monsters WOULD NOT be carrying items around in treasure chests!!
It should be simply this:
"Wyvern A is defeated"
"Wyvern A drops a Chimera Wing"
"Hero obtains the Chimera Wing!"
Doesn't that make more sense?

Agreed. Yeah, I know it's semantics, but it does make more sense that way. Nobody carries items around in treasure chests. Unless they're pirates, looking for places to bury the chests.

Well, as you well know, I am kinda into semantics, and it kinda surprises me that, until now, I never really noticed this.

Yeah, I know; I'm into semantics too, and it's amazing how I never really thought about it either until earlier today.

With this info, I'm trying to figure out what to say if any of those monsters drop *dung* and... I can't. I just can't.
Other than taking a crap in a treasure chest is a real dick move.

You asshole! I just sprayed kool aid all over my screen....you snarfed me you asshole!! Nice one!!
Now how the hell do I follow THAT up??!!
EDIT: It occurs to me that, in DQ9 - there IS the item "cowpat" and I do believe a monster drops this item...one of the mudsucker guys I think...have to check at Woodus' Also, I think I remember "dung" being an item in DW7.
UPDATE: Yes, the Mudraker, in DQ9 drops "cowpat." And, yes, I checked, sure enough, "dung" is an item in DW7.

From the NES version of Dragon Quest IV, then called "Dragon Warrior IV". The first appearance of dung in the series. The item's Japanese name was a much more straightforward "Uma no Fun" (うまのふん, 馬の糞, Horse Manure). What it was doing inside a decorative clay pot for sale is anyone's guess.

Well, Vireo Gilvus, in the days before flush toilets, they had chamber pots. It seems reasonable that one might make a chamber pot out of clay...and even make it decorative. Of course, taking a crap in a jar....that's what chamber pots were for.
But NOBODY takes a crap in a treasure chest!! I agree with Scorpio, that would be a real dick move.

Well, you can look on Urban Dictionary to find out what an Upper Decker is. Of course, I knew what that was long before Urban Dictionary ever even existed. It is really gross, though.
