OK, I finally went after Mortamor while in the mid-50's levels
Pierre managed to beat Hammer in the Slimeopolis, and I have been named a Sass Assasin.
I have gotten 100 mini medals for Medford.
I am now grinding again working up vocations and levels to go after Dark Dream...and to work up my newly-acquired Slimes.
I still have the little blue swordsman near where he started at, as he's not normally welcome in my party....if the naming god would let me, I'd name him what I named him in the NoPrgress version, but this one won't let you, so I had to settle for naming him "Icehole"
I kept him long enough to
1. rename him 2. take his Sunderbolt Sword away from him (the sword that rightfully should have been mine all along) 3. recruit Lizzie 4. send him off to Patty's.

That's good news! I take it, from your sudden spurt of progress and interest in DQ6, that your North Carolina moving plans are underway?

Yes. We leave for North Carolina in less than two weeks.
Everything but the absolute essentials has now been boxed up.
We have one more visit from The Junkologist to get rid of more junk, and then we should be done with that...he is coming on Saturday.
On Monday, Sept, 22 I pick up our moving truck. Gonna be driving a fully-loaded 16-foot Budget truck while towing my car behind it on a car dolly.
My three years experience working at UPS will come in handy here, as will my seven previous cross-country moves. If there's one thing I know how to do really well it is how to pack the maximum amount of stuff into the smallest space possible.
I got about 800 cubic feet, just shy of 30 cubic yards to work with...I should be all right. It will be a tight fit, I'm gonna need every ounce of space, I think, but should manage it all.
I can also load up my car with boxes, since I won't be driving it...I'll be towing it.
Cross Country moves in my lifetime (this does not count local moves)
1. Chicago to Florida (about 1200 miles) 2. Florida back to Chicago (about 1200 miles) 3. Chicago to Texas (about 1300 miles) 4. Texas to New Jersey (about 1700 miles) 5. Pennsylvania to Kentucky (about 750 miles) 6. Kentucky to Texas (about 1000 miles) 7. Texas to Pennsylvania (about 1700 miles) 8. Pennsylvania to North Carolina (about 500 miles)
I'll probably have one more long distance move when I retire, from North Carolina to Hawaii.
I have so far lived in six states, NC will be my seventh... Illinois Florida Texas New Jersey Pennsylvania Kentucky North Carolina

OK, I am working on the LAST vocation for the Hero - Paladin...have all others, including Liquid Metal Slime. Hassan has all except Liquid Metal Slime. same for Barbara, but she won't co-operate and cool her heels at Patty's so I have to keep her with me. Pierre is working on his last vocation, except Liquid Metal SLime (I know, have to beat Dark Dream to get those)
So am working up some of the slimes and the rest of the human characters, once I have all the humans fully vocationed (except for Terry, who I consider to be one of the slimes, anyway) then I will go after Dark Dream several times to get Books for the Liquid Metal Slime vocation, and work up other characters into that vocation.
After all the humans and all the REAL slimes are fully vocationed, then I guess I'll work some on that ultimate slime, Terry (who I named Icehole in my game, because the naming God would NOT let me name him Asshole, which you COULD do in the SNES version.)
Can you tell I really hate Terry?
The only thing I have done with him thus far is take him to his father, recruit Lizzie, and then take the sunderbolt Sword away from him (it was ours by rights, anyway) and then I put that schmuck straight into Patty's place.
You also may have noticed that, for the most part, I re-named all my characters to match their original SNES names (I don't like the new names in this version, because I think of them by their old names, and it gets confusing)
I know
Ashlynn = Barbara Milly = Muriel Carver = Hassan Nevan = Chamoro Goowain = Pierre
but I just can't think of them that way...I need the old names.
At least the slimebucket Terry has the same name, as does Amos.
Goober = Rookie, I know, but I liked the name Bubbles better...so Bubbles he is. The other slime characters, I haven't renamed yet, but I might re-name some of them...although I like Mercury's name.
Healie is okay...I have thought about renaming Curie as "Marie" LOL...think about it...
Spot I will probably rename as "Motley" since he is a Mottle Slime anyway...and a nod to Motley Crue, LOL
So I am way advanced in the game now, probably could go kick Dark Dream's butt right now, but why bother at the moment? Hero is level 69.
You want to be in the level 70's anyway, taking out Dark Dream, so that you can do it in less than 20 turns.
I think, in the SNES version, I once took him out in two rounds.
