So there are some old-school RPGs and RPG franchises which I think you all might enjoy, but there aren't any real places to discuss them here, so this is my way of creating a place where they can be brought up.
1.) Wild Arms series (from Contrail/Media Vision/Sony) Although I've only played the first installment (released for the PlayStation in 1996), I've heard good things about this Wild West/steampunk RPG series as a whole. Clearly modeled after the mid-1990s 2D fantasy epics for the Super Nintendo, Wild Arms has just about everything an old-school RPG fan could ask for: turn-based battles, side quests, lots of stuff to collect, and an awesome Ennio Morricone-inspired soundtrack.
2.) Breath of Fire series (from Capcom) The first two games of this solidly-built, anthropomorphic animal-centric RPG franchise were released on the Super Nintendo. The third and fourth games made the move to PlayStation, while the fifth and final one came out for PS2 and took a lot of risks with the series' gameplay mechanics, alienating many fans. I've only played the first three games in the series, but I highly recommend them all.
3.) Suikoden series (from Konami) I've never played any of the Suikoden games, but I have a few online friends who absolutely love this series. I'm sure some people on this message board are familiar with it as well, as it was one of the most successful RPG franchises for the PlayStation (or so I've heard).

I think we need more posters before more sub-boards I was a big fan of the original Wild ARMS- it was a very solid 16-bit-style RPG released right before FF7 changed what we expected 32-bit RPGs to be. It's one of those games I've always kinda meant to play again big never quite gotten around to- I have heard good things about Wild ARMs 3 and Alter Code F (the remake of the original), though I was put off enough by rough-around-the-edges and very poorly translated Wild ARMs 2 not to keep playing the games. They've still got a neat unique setting and great music; it's a bit of a shame that Wild ARMs has been relegated to "that RPG that got released the summer before Final Fantasy VII"... It really deserves better. Breath of Fire is another series I've only played bits of; the first couple were awfully heavy on grinding. I really liked the look of the third, and it had a bunch of fun bits, but overall I felt like it really needed to be like 2/3 as long as it was... It was definitely of the 'combat every three steps' school of design. 4 I've never played, and 5 seems one of those controversial sequels that bears little in common with the rest of the series save a name... I do have a copy, but like so many other games, it's sat sealed on my shelf for several years. :/ Suikoden was another really solid 16-bit-ish RPG released before FF7; the second didn't make much of a splash when it was released but- like Earthbound- is increasingly well-regarded by the hipster retrogamer crowd. I don't recall exactly what year it was released, but it did have a very 16-bit look and feel to it, like the first Suikoden... I think it was likely buried among a bunch of much more flashily-presented RPGs. I didn't play it myself, but basically all of my college friends did, and it really is pretty standout. Unfortunately, the series kinda went into free fall after that; I've heard very little positive about the later sequels. - HC

My own take is that I could create a hundred sub-boards for individual games/series...but it would probably be best to discuss them in General...and if there seems a sincere interest (i.e. a lot of posts from different members) about a specific game/gane series, then, yeah, a sub-board could be added for that game, and the posts transferred.
What I did, initially, is to create a few sub-boards on some of the more popular games/game series - ones that I expected would get a fair amount of traffic, hence there being boards for Final Fantasy (which I'm not a huge fan of personally) and Chrono Trigger - again, another of those series I just never got much into...as well as Phantasy Star, I thought about adding a Zelda Board...MEtroid is in there...
I tried to create boards that I thought would generate the most interest and/or discussion - and of course, my own shameless plug for my LOTGD Realm, Kalisiin's Empire.
But if a game title on a sub-board isn't generating much traffic, it might be a decent idea to loko at changing it out for one that does - within certain limits (i.e. my own personal tastes, lol) For example, Ruida doesn;t seem to be generating much...perhaps that board could be re-collapsed back into General...
Or perhaps we need a new category, and sub-boards placed under than main general category?
I'm always open to suggestions...

Honestly, at present, I'd say that there isn't enough discussion going on to merit any 'specific game' boards. I'd half-consider getting rid of all of them until the forum is more active...

Well, it would help if some folks here were telling folks they encounter on other Boards....about this Board here!
I'd like to keep the Final Fantasy and the Phantasy Star boards as a minimum, because they were tough to create with all their sub-board, and I don't want to try re-collapsing those. But yeah, some of the others can be collapsed back into General. I need some time to look at this - but other projects have me very very busy at present.
Real life always interferes...

I understand your life is very busy right now. Work should be at the top of your priority list. Let's hold off on creating any more new sub-boards for now. If there's anything I could do to help you with your project, don't hesitate to ask.

Well, I just want a nice place where friends can talk about RPG's. So the best thing everyone can do to help right now is tell their friends about this place!
