I haven't gotten the chance to actually try this one yet, but Reflections of a Fallen Feather seems like it's probably relevant to the interests of you folks. It looks like a turn-based retro-ish RPG which replaces normal 'level-ups' with transforming party members, a la the monsters in the SaGa or Shin Megami Tensei games.
Pay-what-you-want, with an apparent minimum of 'free', so it's probably worth a try at least. If it runs under Wine, I may update this post with more info.
