So a friend posted a link to This is Popular Privilege yesterday.

I'm probably supposed to be laughing at the poster- I admit, it's tempting when someone is expressing sentiments like "Popular privilege is winning a short story contest, even though my Naruto fanfiction was better than the winner’s stupid story". Mostly, though, I'm a little glad that when I had fairly similar thoughts back in my own days as an unpopular High School student, it was before the days when it would be archived forever in the blogosphere.

I had some level of "popular privilege" back in the days of high school myself...on two levels.

One, my brother had been to that school before me by two years, and was massively popular - some of that rubbed off.

Two, my best friend in high school was the hall monitor's daughter, so I got away with things nobody else would.
