Saturn Valley is the best base of operations, because the inn and hospital are free and there's a lot of nice stuff for sale. ZooM!

Sheesh, what a week. I did the Belch Base this morning; I admit that I wiped once fighting Master Belch before I figured out the trick with the Fly Honey. Those Little Pile enemies were a pain in the butt! - HC

Congrats on beating Belch. There's a pretty good grinding spot ahead, in the NE corner of Saturn Valley. It leads to the third Sanctuary Spot, and once you beat the boss, the enemies of the dungeon will run away from you, making the battles a lot easier. Everything okay IRL? I'm concerned...

Things are fine IRL; I've just had a week that involved a lot of way-too-early meetings and obligations in the evening. Also I've started playing Puzzle and Dragons again, which is always bad news. - HC

Got the third Your Sanctuary location. The boss itself wasn't too bad, but the dungeon getting there... ugh. Glad I don't have to do that again! It's really annoying to get halfway through and then need to turn back because your entire party is mushroomized. - HC

Agreed, this dungeon was tough because of all the status ailments (especially Mushroomized). But at least you can start most of the battles here with a sneak attack, because you've beaten the boss.
Next is the Dusty Dunes Desert, east of Threed. Good luck!

Problem is, my dudes weren't high-level enough to go before the mushroom enemies there and before you beat the bosses, it's basically impossible to avoid battles in the first area. :/ Mushroomization takes a while to fully take effect, but I had my confused party members beating themselves to death a couple times in the boss battle. - HC

Got to Fourside this evening, explored a bit, and beat the third-strongest mole five times. Hopefully now I'll get the gold so I can pay off the Runaway 5's debt (again) and beat someone under Giygas' influence and humiliate Pokey (again).

I must say that I find the bar-that-was-quite-obviously-Bowlderized-to-a-coffee-shop in Fourside pretty amusing. - HC

Ah yes, Jackie's Cafe. Weirdly enough, the official title of the music for that place is "Boris' Cocktail", and it contains a sample of Larry Shields' "Little Rascals Theme" as well as a snippet of "The Star-Spangled Banner" if you listen closely enough.
The next few dungeons are really difficult, because something bad will happen to your party in the near future (I don't want to spoil it, though). Hopefully you're using an emulator and save states, because you'll need all the help you can get. Also, there will be a teleporter maze.

Bossens have gotten really easy since I found a place where I could stock up on Big Bottle Rockets. :V Anyway, did Moonside and the cave area this morning; stopped into Winters long enough to get a better bat for Ness, too. Moonside was a pain in the butt to find my way through, but it was a lot easier than the dark Department Store in general- the enemies there hit hard! It also got a lot easier once I reloaded and gave the Franklin Badge to Jeff... I keep having problems with inventory space. While the Condiments are kind of an interesting idea, I have to say that the fact that it consumes even more of your already-tight inventory space kind of prevents me from using it much. - HC

Did you find the Night Pendant in Moonside? It protects against Flash and raises defense by 15. I always give it to Ness since he has the best attack power and healing magic, and therefore the most to lose by being blinded or confused.

Yep, found that. The Flame Pendant in the desert, too. - HC ETA: I kinda like the radio-scanning background music in the Dusty Dunes Desert, but the 90s kid in me always half-expects it to turn into Fastball's The Way. (man, the 'related videos' section of that page makes me feel like I'm in High School again. )

Congrats on your new full party! The game should be a lot more fun and strategic now. Next is what, a return to Fourside for the fifth sanctuary? That dungeon can be tough, but it has an item called the Broken Bazooka that's an excellent tool for Jeff to use during battle. He can't repair it until his IQ stat hits at least 45, but it's even stronger than his regular attack, and it hits adjacent enemies for about half the original damage. This is the reason why I always give my IQ Capsules to Jeff.
