I know we've probably talked about this before (maybe on the old board?), but have any of you folks ever played any of the Shin Megami Tensei games? You might like them, Kalisiin- they've got some of the same monster-capturing aspects of DQV, combined with the first-person dungeon crawling of The Dark Spire.
I've been loving the hell out of SMT: Strange Journey on the DS during my commute for the last couple weeks; it's got a relatively dark story/setting, but it's got a bunch of other things you normally like in it.
