I've been seeing blurbs about Pier Solar lately- it's an oldschool-style RPG that was released for the Sega Genesis in 2010. No part of that last sentence was a typo. Apparently, it is a pretty solid game in the Phantasy Star/Final Fantasy vein which tacks very close to its' spiritual forebears; I've seen a number of good reviews for it. They're currently running a Kickstarter to fund ports to the Mac, PC, and Dreamcast; at the time of this writing, it's fully funded and has a couple days left. This coud be a good one to watch- or even pick up, if you've still got a working Genesis! - HC

I DID manage to locate a copy of a BETA version on this...I assume it is okay to share a BETA version, since it is not the final version, and it is intended to test the game. www.theisozone.com/dl-start/2422/1/Like I said, this doesn't seem to be a final version...but it might be fun to play around with and get a feel for what the game is like and decide if you wanna spend heavy bucks to get the real game, because this one doesn't seem to be cheap. But there you go, you're welcome to download this and give it a try if you're a mind. If reports on it are good, then I may also give it a whirl. There seems to be some talk out there about how the game has code that recognizes and refuses an emulator...dunno if this is entirely true or not, and I'm hoping the BETA doesn't have this issue. It'd be a shame, because there's no way I, for one, am gonna blow serious bread on a game that I don't get to try and see if I like it first. Of course, I DO have an actual SEGA Genesis unit, one the works, too. So I could be in the market for this game if it is good enough to warrant the price.

Honestly, I'm kinda holding out for a port to another system- there's little doubt in my mind the emulator developers will work around the copy protection in fairly short order if there's call for it. That being said, I think I'd roll the dice on this one of it were $15 or $20.
